The Fragrance of Memory
The celebration of All Saints invites us into a moment of luminous remembrance. Rather than a time of fear or disquiet, it becomes a time to turn gently toward the light that does not fade, the quiet flame of what we have loved and continue to carry in our hearts.
Fallen down colors: gratitude and rest
Burnt sienna rises from the earth itself after the sun has set. It carries a feeling of gratitude and completion: the harvest is done, the rhythm of the world slows, and summer’s light becomes a quiet memory within the heart.
Carmine: awe & wonder
Carmine, a color of ancient dreams, appears as living light in earth’s roots, wildflowers, deep fruits.
The Movement of Colour
Colour arises in relationship: between what illuminates and what receives, what comes into manifestation and what remains concealed.
We might in this way begin to speak of the being of colour.
Impulse
Every beginning contains an impulse. Before it becomes an action, it is a movement seeking form; before it becomes visible in the world, it remains a possibility, still surrounded by darkness.
Art and cultural life ask us to hold these movements together. We need the openness to receive an impulse, the discernment to meet obstacles, the courage to begin and the will to continue.
A New Rhythm
A seasonal practice
Color & Cosmos is a cultural practice exploring the relationship between colour, nature, art, seasonal rhythms and human development.
Each week, a small letter will accompany the season through four movements:
SEE
What is happening around us?
THINK
What might this reveal?
PRACTICE
Can we experience it through colour, art, nature or the hands?
CARRY
What quality can accompany us into the week?
The practices will be simple.
Watercolour, drawing, modelling, knitting, baking, walking, observing, writing, tending a space.
Nothing needs to be mastered.
The invitation is simply to participate.
Equinox: light and darkness
It all begins with an idea.
The breath of the day
It all begins with an idea.
Color as Path to the Spirit
The 15th of August holds together two apparently different gestures: the celebration of the fullness of summer and the image of ascent. One looks into the earthly world; the other looks beyond it. Yet in the reale of the Soul they both share a dream-like state of consciousness.
In a similar way Titian’s colours hold these two movements together.
A brief history of understanding colour
The history of colour is also a history of how we understand the relationship between the world and the human being who perceives it. .
Looking Up
August invites us to spend more evenings outdoors. To recognise constellations. To notice the slow movement of the Milky Way.
The stars became mirrors of human virtues: courage, patience, wisdom, hope. Summer reaches its greatest intensity.
Tomatoes glow on the vine. Watermelons split open with sweetness. This is the world of red.
Between Horizon and Heart
Summer naturally draws us outward. We travel, wander unfamiliar streets, meet friends, swim in distant waters, stay awake beneath long skies. Life expands toward the horizon.
Yet every true journey contains another movement.
The Greeks had a beautiful word for it: νόστος (nostos)—the homecoming.
Not simply returning to one's house, but returning changed, carrying experience inward until it becomes wisdom. Every voyage is complete only when it finds its way back to the heart.
Orange is the color of that return.
The Poetry of Midsummer
June glows in golden yellow.
The bright yellow of spring blossoms, turns into the mellow gold of long evenings, ripening wheat, and sunlight that seems to linger just a little longer before surrendering to night. It is the month when the Earth reaches its fullest breath.
The Miracle of Green
Green is the color of the middle path.
Of balance.
Of quiet renewal.
It reminds us that life does not rush, it unfolds.
And that sometimes, the deepest transformation happens not through effort, but through attentive presence.
The Breath of the Year
Living Time as Soul
We can imagine the year as a vast cosmic breath.
In Rudolf Steiner’s vision, the Earth and the human being are in a living relationship: what happens outside in nature, deeply resonates within the soul.
Rhythm as Breath
Finding Harmony in the Flow of Time.
There is a way of living that begins with listening rather then control.
The Cosmic Egg of Creation
From mythology to Easter: echos of renewals, an eternal cycle witnessed by the universe.
When Winter Breathes Again
If Candlemas Day be dry and fair,
The half o’ winter’s to come and mair;
If Candlemas Day be wet and foul,
The half of winter’s gane at Yule.
The Days of the Blackbird
Gather ‘round for a wondrous tale,
Of winter’s frost and spring’s soft veil.
Through blackbird songs and Candlemas light,
Let’s journey together,hearts burning bright.
Finding Stars
Epiphany arrives as a radiant call. Not a conclusion, a beginning. Not a possession, a search.
To say it with Goethe:
“Every human being is a pilgrim in search of the king.”
Epiphany is the festival of this pilgrimage: the moment when the human soul recognizes that truth is not inherited or explained, but sought.
Imprint
Color & Cosmos is a cultural practice
exploring art, colour, nature, seasonal rhythms and human development.
Through colour, perception, artistic practice and the rhythm of the year, we explore how the world around us can become a source of reflection
and inner development.
Rooted in artistic and educational work in Italy, Color & Cosmos brings these questions into everyday life through observation, practice and reflection.
