Equinox: light and darkness

During the Equinox, day and night stand equal. Goethe sees in colours the manifestation of hidden forces: light that gives birth and darkness that embraces it. Light without darkness would be glare without depth; darkness without light, void. Meeting, between the end of warm day and beginning of fresh night, there arises colour that vibrates — like carmine, like Earth preparing for rest.

Experience: at sunset, we can close our eyes and take three deep breaths. We can envision light embracing shadow, then we can light a candle, contemplate its glow and release what the day has held.

  • Which shadow do I carry that needs welcoming?

  • When today did I sense light growing stronger after darkness?
