Carmine: awe & wonder
Carmine, a color of ancient dreams, appears as living light in earth’s roots, wildflowers, deep fruits. The Persians saw the carmine sky as an invitation to step out of the temple of inner life: between brightness “glanz des leben” and reverence. It is the color of the heart that swings between fear and wonder, at the threshold between what is perceptible and what touches the soul.
Gustav Klimt - Pine Forest - 1902
We can bring Carmine into our voice, into our space: a fabric drape, a pumpkin, a painting moment with children, a sacred nature corner.
Which childhood memory emerges when I think of carmine?
Where in me lives fear? And where wonder?
How can I bring a touch of carmine into my life today?
Gustav Klimt - Berch Forest
